Privacy policy

We may collect information you provide directly to us, including your name, email address, and mobile phone number when you create or access an account, request a verification code, make a contribution, contact us, or use our services.

We may also collect information related to your use of our services, such as account activity and information necessary to provide requested services and process transactions.

When you use a contact form, we use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person. Cloudflare may process your IP address and browser details for that purpose.

When you pay by card, the payment form also asks for the ZIP code of your card. We save it with your contribution and, for your first contribution, on your profile, where you can change it. We use your ZIP code to show your pages in your time zone and to list merchants near you first.

When you make a contribution, when you request a redemption, or when a business owner confirms a campaign, we record the IP address and browser details of the device used. We use them to help prevent fraud and to respond to payment disputes.

When you pay by card, the payment form asks for the name on your card. We save it exactly as you type it, together with the card brand, the last four digits of the card and a code Stripe gives us that identifies the card (we never see or keep the full card number). The name you type for your first contribution becomes the name on your account; names from other cards are kept as additional names. We use this information to create your account, to help you get back into it if you change phone numbers, to confirm who is redeeming a voucher, and to respond to payment disputes.

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate our services.
• Create and manage your account.
• Verify your phone number and secure your account.
• Process contributions and related transactions.
• Respond to questions and support requests.
• Communicate with you about services you have requested.

If you provide your mobile phone number and request a verification code, we may send you a one-time text message containing the code needed to verify your phone number or sign in to your account.

Text messages are strictly transactional and security-related. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

Message frequency varies and is generally limited to one message each time you request a verification code. Message and data rates may apply.

You may reply STOP to any message to opt out of text messages or HELP for help.

We do not sell or share your mobile phone number or your text messaging consent information with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate LocalChum, provide requested services, process transactions, maintain our systems, or deliver communications on our behalf. These service providers may use information only as necessary to provide services to us.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights or users, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmitting or storing information can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services, maintain accounts and transaction records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account, subject to applicable legal and operational requirements.

For text messages, you may reply STOP to opt out of receiving future verification messages. You may reply HELP for assistance.

LocalChum is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
